The Institut français is hosting a series of classical music concerts on select Saturday mornings this autumn that the whole family can enjoy – and where you might be able to introduce live classical music to the little ones! The Cavatina Family Concerts are of the highest musical quality and present classical music in a fun and interactive way.

Starting the series on Saturday, 15th October is a performance by the Badke Quartet, performing works by Haydn, Beethoven, Peter Maxwell Davies and Shostakovich. The Quartet formed in 2002, and are widely recognised as one of Britain’s finest string quartets.

The second event, on Saturday, 19th November, will be a performance by The Thorne Trio. An established wind group formed in 1999, the three ladies all are graduates of the Royal College of Music. They will be performing works by Tchaikowsky, Mozart, Fucik, Verdi, and Last Dance from Century Dances by Cecilia McDowall, a piece commission by the Thorne Quartet and written in 2005.

Concerts start at 10.45am and tickets cost £7 for adults and £5 for children & concessions (including a fruit juice). More details about the concerts and links to book tickets online can be found at www.institut-francais.org.uk/kids-and-teens/cavatina-family-concerts.
